Andrew Alger4 (Arthur3, Richard2 Thomas1) was born Dunstan, Norfolk Co. England 1618. Andrew died August 1694 Newbury, at 76 years of age.
Andrew married Agnes in Norfolk England, 1641. Andrew was a surveyor living in Saco, York, Maine as early as 1640. In 1644 and 1645 he had a company of men on Stratton’s island engages in the fisheries with his brothers Arthur and Tristram Alger. In 1641, he and his brother Arthur purchased a thousand acres of land from Jane (a.k.a.Uphannum). He was a constable and selectman and in 1668 was commissioned lieutenant. In 1674 Andrew was at Cape Porpoise, Maine when he was fined for swearing. At the outbreak of the Indian hostilities in 1690, which left him destitute, he relocated with his wife to Newbury, Massachusetts where in 1692 he executed a conveyance of his estate in Cape Porpoise, which he had attained partly by purchase and partly by grant to Joseph Bailey.

John married Elizabeth Humes in Glouchester, Rhode Island 20 June 1773. Elizabeth was born in Douglas, Worchester, Massachusetts 1 August 1746. Elizabeth was the daughter of Samuel Humes. Elizabeth died 18?? West Bloomfield, Ontario, New York. He moved from Rehoboth, Massachusetts to Oxford where he was living in 1779. He later moved to West Bloomfield, Ontario, New York where he was a blacksmith.
John’s Will was dated 11 Mar 1800 and proved 18 June 1800 in Ontario County, New York. It states: Beeing weak in body but sound in mind I make my daughter-in-law Synthia and my son Samuel executors. It mentions all his children and that he owned (6) 160 acre lots in West Bloomfield, Ontario, New York.
