Will of Nicholas Humes, Apr 1762, Series A, Case 32336, Worcester Co., Massachusetts

In the Name of God Amen, I Nicholas Humes of Uxbridge in the County of Worcester in the province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England, Housewright, Calling to mind the mortality of my Body and that it is appointed to all men once to die - Do therefore ordain this to be my last will and testament. And first I do recommend my soule to God that gave it and my Body to that Earth to be buried in a decent and Christian-like manner at the discretion of my executor hereafter to be mentioned. Nothing doubting that I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and of touching such - worldly estate of it hath please God to bless me with in this world I do hereby demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form after my just debts are paid and funeral charges defrayed etc. I give and bequeath onto beloved wife Dorcas Humes the whole improvement of all my Estate both real and personal so long as she shall remain my widow except the best bed and all of the bedding and furniture thereto belonging which I give to my youngest daughter Experience Humes and after the decease or marriage of my wife my will is that the remaining part of my estate both real and personal shall be divided amongst all my children or their legal representatives in the manner following: two thirds thereof to my sons or their legal representatives - and one third to my daughters or their legal representatives. And I hereby constitute and appoint Caleb Taft of Uxbridge - aforesaid Husbandman to be the executor of this my last will and testament and it is to be [not legible - seems to be about 10 words] estate given to my sons I meant all my sons and to be equally divided amongst them and I do hereby revoke all others of my wills and declare this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness I have here onto set my hand and seal this fifth day of September in the first year of his majesty's Reign anno domini 1761.
