OUR FAMILY OF JACKSONS
The start of our family of Jacksons in North America was with Henry Jackson. The descendants of Henry Jackson were builders of grist, tide, and pulling mills. It is these Jacksons that founded such places as Wallingford, Vt., Sharon, Ct., Jackson's Gore Vt., Arcade N.Y., Nelson N.Y., as well as Enterprise Ont. Canada. A Jackson of this family was the first white child born in Arcade, N.Y. These Jacksons were amongst the first settlers of Racine Co. WI. and Hay Bay Ont. Canada. Jacksons were involved in the American Revolution as advisors and organizers, as well as soldiers. They held officer rank in the American army during and after the revolution. They were town leaders and also leaders of churches as deacons and ministers. Their occupations ranged from farmers to tradesmen. From Town Officials to Justices of the Peace, from fishermen to builders, blacksmiths, tinsmiths, tool & die makers, millwrights, mechanics, as well as carpenters and steamfitters. They became Peace Officers and Judges. Some of this family of Jacksons moved to Canada as United Empire Loyalists, settling at Hay Bay Ont.. Descendants of these Jacksons moved inland to found Enterprise Wt. and area. There is hardly a part of North America where members of Henry Jackson's family of descendants have not immigrated to.
Ancestral Lineage is from the oldest to the youngest ancestor.
eg: Henry Jackson (1), Samuel Jackson Sr. (2), Ebenezer Jackson Sr. (3), Abraham Jackson Sr. (4), Jethro Jackson Sr. (5).
Henry Jackson being the earliest in this line and Jethro being the latest in this line. Henry's son would be Samuel, his grandson would be Ebenezer, his great-grandson would be Abraham, and his great-great-grandson would be Jethro.
The number after the name represents the generation of the family in North America with Henry Jackson being the first generation and Jethro Jackson being the fifth generation.
Some members of the family married cousins, second cousins, or in one case a half niece. This resulted in some people being in more then one generation depending on which ancestral lineage you follow.
eg: Wilbert Jackson of the ninth generation married his cousin’s daughter of the tenth generation. Therefore their children belong to both the tenth generation and the eleventh generation. They are listed in the earliest generation with both ancestral lineages being noted.
NOTES:
Some spellings of first and second names may look wrong but that is the way they were spelled by the people. There may have been more children other then those listed, however the writer had no knowledge of them. The information contained within is accurate to the best of the writer's knowledge.
